It's February 17th, do you know what that means?

Feb 07, 2020

It means 50% off chocolate and by now about 90% of the folks who made new year’s resolutions have failed or forgotten them.

Yes, that’s right 90% have forgotten their resolutions or given up on them!

Hopefully, you are not in this category. I am hoping you are someone who knows that resolutions are crap, and goals are far more important.

If you made a bunch of resolutions in the past that are forgotten by mid-February think about setting some goals instead this year. It is not too late, we are six weeks into the new year, that means you have 88% of the year left to achieve your goals.

To be effective goals need to be SMART.

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Realistic

Time-bound

If your goals are significant you may need to break them down into weekly, monthly or quarterly pieces that match your overall goal. This is the formula for achieving change and being successful with your goals.

So 6 weeks are gone and you can still hit the reset button and set some GOALS.

I am here to tell you don’t set the goal of just losing weight. That is way to generic. A proper goal is to lose 15 pounds by Memorial Day. Then plan how you are going to achieve that goal.

How many books do you want to read this year?

How much weight do you want to lose?

What other areas do you have something you want to achieve?

For me, because I let exercise slip last year so I set a goal of 260 workouts this year. Why because that works out to working out 5 times a week. I know to achieve this I am looking at working out five times a week or twenty-two times a month.

In addition I shared this goal on a number of men's groups on Facebook. Why, accountability. Do you think I am going to put a goal out there and then slack on it with hundreds of people who could call me out and hold me accountable? Unlikely.

So what goals are you going to set?
